Golden, Kitt Set for Off-Broadway Musical Mimi le Duck

Annie Golden and Eartha Kitt are among the stars of Mimi le Duck, a new musical that begins performances off Broadway at New World Stages on October 11. Directed by Thomas Caruso, Mimi le Duck has book and lyrics by Diana Hansen-Young, music by Brian Feinstein, and musical staging by Matt West Beauty and the Beast. In addition to Golden and Kitt, the production will feature Candy Buckley, Robert DuSold, Allen Fitzpatrick, Ken Jennings and Marcus Neville.

Mimi le Duck follows Miriam Annie Golden, a discontented Mormon housewife from Ketchum, Idaho, who, in a moment of desperately crazy inspiration, packs her bags and moves to Paris, leaving behind her husband and her successful career as a painter of duck canvases for the QVC Network. The musical had its world premiere at the Adirondack Theatre Festival and its New York premiere at the Fringe Festival, both in the summer of 2004.

Golden appeared on Broadway in The Full Monty, On the Town, Ah, Wilderness! and the revival of Hair. Regional and off-Broadway credits include An Empty Plate?, La Terrasse, Saturn Returns, On the Town, Assassins and Little Shop of Horrors.

Kitt made her Broadway debut in New Faces of 1952. She received Tony nominations for Mrs. Patterson, Timbuktu and The Wild Party. Other stage appearances include Shinbone Alley, The Skin of Our Teeth and The Owl and the Pussycat. She has enjoyed extended stays at the Café Carlyle and will soon release an album, Eartha Kitt: Live at the Carlyle.

Buckley appeared on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cabaret and Ring 'Round the Moon. Her off-Broadway credits include The Petrified Prince, Shockheaded Peter, Defying Gravity, Communicating Door and View of the Dome.

DuSold's Broadway and national tour roles include Javert/Valjean in Les Miserables, Monsieur Andre in Phantom of the Opera, Old Deuteronomy in Cats, Pete in Show Boat, Marcos in Kiss of the Spider Woman and Che in Evita.

Fitzpatrick's New York theater credits include Les Miserables, 42nd Street, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Damn Yankees, Jack's Holiday, Annie Warbucks, The Rothschilds, Mata Hari, Wonderful Town and The Boys From Syracuse. He has appeared in national tours of Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love, Guys and Dolls, Six Degrees of Separation, Elmer Gantry and Whistle Down the Wind.

Jennings created the role of Tobias in the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd. Other Broadway credits include Side Show, London Assurance, Present Laughter, All God's Chillun' Got Wings, Grand Hotel and Mayor.

Neville played Harold in the Broadway production of The Full Monty and appeared in City of Angels. Off-Broadway credits include Lil' Abner, That's Life and CBS Live as Ricky Ricardo.

Mimi le Duck is scheduled to officially open on October 31.
